Occupational Therapy

Helping children develop the physical, cognitive, and sensory skills they need to participate fully in school, play, and everyday life.

About This Service

What is Occupational Therapy?

Paediatric Occupational Therapy (OT) focuses on helping children develop the skills needed for their daily 'occupations' — which for children means playing, learning, and taking care of themselves. Our OTs work on fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, handwriting, and more.

"For a child, play is work. Our OT sessions are designed to build essential life skills through the thing children do best — play."

OT at Little Wings is hands-on, play-based, and highly individualised. We assess each child's functional skills, identify areas of difficulty, and create a targeted therapy plan that builds capability and independence over time.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my child needs OT?+
Signs include difficulty with handwriting, dressing, using cutlery, avoiding certain textures, seeming clumsy, or struggling with age-appropriate activities. A free consultation can help clarify.
What age can children start OT?+
OT can begin from infancy. The earlier developmental challenges are addressed, the better the outcomes. We work with children from 6 months to 18 years.
Will OT help my child's handwriting?+
Yes — handwriting is one of the most common OT referrals. We address grip, letter formation, posture, and the underlying fine motor and visual-motor skills.
How often should my child attend?+
Typically once or twice a week for focused skill-building. Frequency is adjusted based on your child's needs and progress.
Do parents join sessions?+
We highly encourage it. Parent involvement ensures home practice happens and skills transfer to everyday life much faster.
